Police have identified as the alleged shooter which Truett from Myrtle Ross Ashley shot a police officer Virginia Tech before itself killing about 30 minutes later.
There was no link between agent Deriek Crouse, which attracted a campus ambush Thursday, and Ashley, 22, of the police of Partlow, Virginia known, said today.
Ashley, a student of the part-time business at Radford University, near Virginia Tech, has stolen a white Mercedes 2011 seen a real estate office in the city of Radford Wednesday, according to the police of the city of Radford. The Mercedes was stolen after the gun about 11: 25
The SUV was the next day, Thursday, at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Agent Crouse later stopped a car and sat in his unmarked patrol car when Ashley, who had no connection with the motorist stopped, he ran and lethal Crouse shot, police allege. Ashley escaped on foot and changed his wool CAP and high jumper, police said.
At least a part of the fatal meeting which campus annoyed - Thursday was captured on the dash-cam Crouse, and that Virginia Tech agents also are "miked", so there was probably audio of the meeting.
"We know who is that person," said Corinne Geller of the Virginia State Police at a press conference this morning.
The authorities have yet to identify a motive for the ambush.
"At this moment we have no link that the shooter and the agent knew each other at the Crouse were shot," said Geller.
She also said, "we are very certain that it was the only person involved in this."
How to determine a motive for the ambush, Geller said, is "the fundamental part of the research right now."
